The social network Nextdoor partnered with the San Diego Police Department in an effort to make San Diego neighborhoods safer.
Nextdoor is a digital platform where users can privately share community-related news with their neighbors, who are verified by their home addresses.
Now, users in the 76 percent of San Diego neighborhoods using Nextdoor can also access crime alerts and public safety tips posted by the SDPD.
According to an SDPD news release, users will be able to access and respond to these alerts on a separate page for police personnel.
SDPD is now one of more than 100 police and fire departments partnered with Nextdoor, including those in Dallas and Denver.
