Former Mayor Bob Filner was booked and released from jail Saturday morning, the San Diego Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Watch commander Lt. Dave Schaller said Filner was booked at 7:11 a.m. and released at 8:57 a.m.

During that time, Filner was photographed for his mug shot and had his fingerprints taken.

"It basically entails you getting processed in for your criminal records," Schaller said of the process.

The 71-year-old Filner pleaded guilty in Superior Court Oct. 15 to one felony count of false imprisonment and two counts of misdemeanor battery. His plea was part of a deal with the State Attorney General's office.

Filner does not face jail time but he is barred from ever seeking or holding public office again. He is to be sentenced Dec. 9.

Filner was San Diego's first Democratic mayor in 20 years, until he resigned Aug. 30 amid multiple accusations of unwanted sexual advances.

One accuser, Filner's former director of communications, Irene McCormack Jackson, filed suit against him for sexual harassment.
