—A man looks at the planet and sees a world that needs changing, if not outright saving. But what impact can one person have? He takes a road trip across the Americas to find out.—
The man is Dr. Pedram Shojai — author, filmmaker, frequent guest on THE DR. OZ SHOW and THE TODAY SHOW, father and Urban Monk.
"Prosperity" is a documentary about his journey — the discoveries and connections, surprises and disappointments, and an action plan to empower solutions.
The documentary road trip by-passes the traditional stops — no duty-derelict government agencies, no corporate greed-stalking, no political shaming.
The Urban Monk is after something more powerful — business. Not to attack, but to help steer it towards needed solutions. “To create a positive wake while making profit,” says Pedram. “To have business redefine prosperity and change the world.”
Business drives civilization, inspiring many of our greatest achievements. “Can we now use this powerful force to remake a healthier planet?” Pedram seeks out over twenty companies whose actions say yes — businesses large and small, new and well-established. None are paid or pay to appear. Their efforts can seem heroic. Pedram wants to see if they are for real.
Pedram meets with visionary business leaders, outspoken workers, hard-working suppliers and consumers. He asks, “can business afford to serve a higher purpose than making money? Can business be successful pursuing sustainability alongside profits?” Their answers, actions and results will form the foundation on which Pedram’s theory will stand or fall.
The quest of "Prosperity" is far-reaching. The documentary explores an exploding conscious business movement, one fueled by social responsibility, political frustration, transparency, millennials, and the realization that business-as-usual can’t go on. It seeks much-needed solutions — a practical guide to help viewers chart a course to sustainability.
“The businesses and brands we support shape today’s world. Which ones will we empower to shape tomorrow’s?"
