KPBS Announces Maya Trabulsi as Evening Edition Anchor

KPBS has announced Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist Maya Trabulsi as the new anchor for Evening Edition, the public media station’s nightly television news program.

“Maya holds herself to the highest principles, and understands how crucial fact-based, civil news coverage is to bringing and keeping our community together. She is an experienced journalist who respects the intelligence of our audience. She takes real joy in sharing her curiosity about San Diego,” says Suzanne Marmion, director of news and editorial strategy.

Maya has worked in the KPBS newsroom since 2014 as the Weekend Edition Saturday radio newscast anchor, as a fill-in anchor for Evening Edition and All Things Considered. She has also hosted TV and radio fundraising drives.

Maya has produced award-winning enterprise features for KPBS News, including four first place awards in 2019 from the Society of Professional Journalists, two Golden Mike awards in 2017 and an Emmy award in 2015. She has experience as an anchor, reporter, producer, editor and host with various news organizations prior to joining KPBS, including KUSI, CW/Channel 6 and Channel 4 in San Diego, and KZSW in Riverside.

“I am thrilled to serve our KPBS audience from the Evening Edition anchor desk. Throughout my career, I have had the distinct privilege to cover the stories that emerge from our great region; stories that provide a deeper understanding of our community. I am excited to follow my passion to keep San Diego informed on the issues of the day from this new role,” says Trabulsi.

KPBS Evening Edition is a nightly 26 minute news program that delivers accurate, in-depth analysis exploring everything from politics to education and environment to arts. The show airs Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on KPBS-TV, and is available to stream on kpbs.org/eveningedition and the PBS app.
