The Department of Defense reported today that 33-year-old Staff Sgt. Kristofferson B. Lorenzo of Chula Vista was killed in Kunar province, Afghanistan with three other soldiers on May 23 when they were attacked with an improvised explosive device.
The four men were part of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, based at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Also killed were: Pfc. William S. Blevins, 21, of Sardinia, Ohio; Pvt. Andrew M. Krippner, 20, Garland, Texas; and Pvt. Thomas C. Allers, 23, of Plainwell, Michigan.
Lorenzo's friends and family have set up a Facebook tribute page in his honor. A fellow soldier named Wyatt Arndt posted this message to his fallen friend:
