How long you have to wait in line at the airport today may depend on what airline you’re using. KPBS reporter Katie Orr checked in at the Southwest ticketing area where the crowds were heavy.
At one point the security line stretched the length of terminal one. That took Curlette Alexander by surprise. She was waiting with her two children who are flying to Huston.
Alexander: I didn’t think anyone would be travelling today. I thought we were one of the few just travelling today. I didn’t think people would be leaving Christmas Eve. I didn’t expect this.
But Southwest airlines seemed to be the exception. Ticketing areas and security lines in other parts of the airport were dealing with light crowds and short lines. There were some delays but the majority of flights were listed as on time.
