The city of San Diego reports the Ocean Beach Pier is the longest concrete pier on the West Coast at 1,971-feet.
In mid-January, the pier took a beating from high surf and has been closed since. Part of the railing was destroyed and a city spokesman said more damage has been found.
The spokesman said in addition to fixing the railing, some sewer, water line and electrical work will need to be done. Right now it is unclear when the repairs will be completed as damage assessments are still underway.
The spokesman said more information will be available in the coming weeks.
The OB Pier opened in 1966 and is one of the most visited landmarks in San Diego, according to the city of San Diego.
