Several Ohio television stations have identified the Navy SEAL who accidentally shot himself Thursday as Geno Clayton.
WKBN-TV reports Clayton grew up in the Boardman, Ohio area and is the son of Gene Clayton, who owns the Clayton Heating & Air Conditioning Company in Youngstown.
As Home Post reported yesterday, Clayton is a recent graduate from the Navy SEAL program, and lives in Pacific Beach. He accidentally shot himself early Thursday morning while demonstrating to a female companion that his gun was safely unloaded. Police report Clayton put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger to prove his point.
Clayton is now on life support at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
