How DoD Furloughs Will Affect Camp Pendleton

From Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Public Affairs Office:

Marine Corps Installations West -Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Department of Defense civilian employees, with the exception of those personnel with duties to protect life and property, will take one day of unpaid leave each week from July 8 to Sept. 21 for a total of 11 days.

Approximately 1,544 employees at Camp Pendleton are subject to furlough, while 249 received exceptions.

In order to accommodate the DOD mandated furloughs, the base will implement the following changes to services:

• The commissary will be closed on Mondays.

• Regional Contracting Office, Consolidated Human Resource Office, Comptroller Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Office and the Business Management Office will be closed on Fridays.

Further, and as a direct result of the mandatory furlough, the following delays and interruptions in services are expected:

• There will be a 20 percent reduction related to range maintenance that may require the closure of ranges for a limited period of time.

• Training at the Infantry Immersion Trainer will be reduced.

• Distribution Management Office could experience up to a 50 percent reduction in household goods, appointments, freight movements, and other services such as passport requests. Freight delivery delays will cascade throughout the week resulting in a 24-48 hour lag in deliveries.

• Response to information technology requests will be delayed by days vice hours for the restoration of service lost or the request for new service for individual computer or telephone.

• Consolidated Materials Service Center (ServMart) wait times at registers may increase up to 30-60 minutes per customer.

• An additional day to process Defense Travel System orders, awards processing, orders processing, security clearance investigations, in and out processing of military and civilian personnel and other administrative matters.
