San Diegans will pay respects to fallen warriors, visit new theme park attractions and receive thousands of travelers over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Two major events are scheduled Saturday aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum.

At 9 a.m., a Veterans Remembrance Ceremony will take place. Veterans from World War II are set to participate, along with Rep. Scott Peters, D-San Diego and the consul general from France. This year is the 70th anniversary of D-Day, the invasion of Europe.

At 7:30 p.m., the American Freedom Festival will be held at the museum to benefit local military nonprofit organizations.

Also Saturday the Tull Family Tiger Trail at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park and "Legends of Chima'' waterpark at Legoland California will both open to the public.

The $19.5 million tiger trail features a forested habitat with three yards for the park's six Sumatran tigers. The 5.2-acre exhibit includes rocks for climbing, ponds for swimming, deadwood trees to use as scratching posts and tall grasses for catnaps.

The trail is named for Thomas and Alba Tull, who donated $9 million for the project. Thomas Tull is best known for producing the "Dark Knight'' films.

The "Legends of Chima'' water park is three acres of wet play areas for youth. The facility's second water park features a 250,000-gallon wave pool, a lion arch created out of 260,000 Lego bricks and a slide through the jaws of a massive Lego crocodile.
