The military is investigating the death of Navy Cmdr. Christopher E. Kalafut, 49, who lost his life Oct. 24 in a what the Pentagon is calling a "non-combat related incident" at Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar.
U-T San Diego reports Kalafut was a reservist who worked as an airline pilot for Delta.
He lived with his wife, Mary, and their five children just outside of Atlanta in Acworth, Ga.
Kalafut was assigned to Naval Amphibious Liaison Element, Combined Forces Air Component Center, U.S. Central Command.
The Department of Defense has released no additional information about the incident in which Kalafut died.
