After 17 hours of deliberation, a San Diego jury found Jennifer Trayers guilty of second degree murder in the stabbing death of her husband, Navy Lt. Cmdr.Frederick Trayers. Lt. Cmdr. Trayers was a Navy doctor who worked at Naval Medical Center San Diego.

The couple had been married for 18 years. Prosecutors said the motive for the murder was Trayers' anguish over her husband's extramarital affair, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The San Diego District Attorney's office had urged the jury to find Trayers guilty of first-degree murder, arguing she had planned the December 2010 stabbing death of her husband. Trayers' defense team argued that Trayers was only guilty of voluntary manslaughter.
