A soldier who grew up in West Sacramento, California died April 24th in Paktika province, Afghanistan, according to the Department of Defense.
Spc. Manuel J. Vasquez was just 22-years-old. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade at Grafenwoehr in Germany.
The Department of Defense has not yet released a cause of death.
