Lockdown Lifted At Naval Base San Diego

Officials say gates at Naval Base San Diego have been reopened after a brief lockdown Friday morning.

Just before 11 a.m., all vehicles and foot traffic to and from the base were being turned around, and base personnel were told to find a secure place as security conducted a sweep of the installation for a white SUV.

Details about the search were not immediately disclosed, but officials said base gates have been reopened.

This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
