San Diego's universities often promote their research, biotech and information technology credentials, but among the future inventors and researchers on our campuses, are also future artists and entertainers.
The San Diego Opera is recognizing the budding vocal talent on campus by establishing a new university partnership with San Diego State University, the University of San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene University.
Nicolas Reveles, director of education and outreach with the San Diego Opera said it's a win-win, for the opera, the teachers and the students.
The first project to spring from the partnership is a series of master classes for voice students, conducted by professional singers from the San Diego Opera.
Reveles said in the master classes students will get tips about vocal technique, vowel placement, how to rest their voice and what they have to give up in order to become an opera singer.
